CAF president Patrice Motsepe says he will respect the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision on Senegal’s appeal against being stripped of their Africa Cup of Nations crown.
Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 in January’s chaotic final, but CAF’s appeals body later awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory. Senegal has since taken the case to CAS, insisting their second AFCON star is valid.
Motsepe stressed CAF reforms are underway to restore trust in referees and judicial panels, and confirmed Samson Adamu as caretaker general secretary. He also reiterated plans to expand AFCON to 28 teams, though the 2027 edition in East Africa will remain at 24.
“It is important we work together to grow African football,” Motsepe said, promising visits to both Senegal and Morocco.
