The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has concluded a three-day Safe Stadium Initiative Workshop in Johannesburg, reinforcing its drive to improve safety standards across African football.
Organised with the South African Football Association (SAFA) and led by CAF Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa, the programme trained 40 participants—including SAPS officers, Premier Soccer League safety officials, and women’s football representatives—on risk management, crowd control, and emergency response.
Dr Emeruwa stressed CAF’s priority: “Creating safe stadium environments is fundamental. We aim to equip stakeholders with the tools to ensure football remains secure and enjoyable for all.”
The initiative builds on similar workshops across 32 Member Associations, part of CAF’s push to unify stadium safety practices and align African venues with global standards.
