Vipers SC vs NEC FC – Champions Meet the New Guard

Defending champions Vipers SC arrive with pedigree and purpose. Their 2–0 triumph over KCCA FC in last season’s final secured their fourth Uganda Cup crown, reinforcing their modern dominance in Ugandan football.

With a winning culture firmly established, the Venoms are chasing back-to-back titles and further historical significance.

Standing in their path is NEC FC, a relatively young but rapidly rising side. Though yet to lift the trophy, NEC have already demonstrated their potential by reaching the 2023/24 final, where they narrowly fell 1-0 to Kitara FC. Their journey reflects a club on the brink of greatness; hungry, fearless, and eager to upset the established order.

URA FC vs KCCA FC – A Rivalry Etched in Silverware

This fixture brings together two institutions steeped in Uganda Cup history. KCCA FC, joint record holders with ten titles, remain one of the competition’s most successful and consistent forces. Their last triumph came in 2018, when they edged Vipers 1-0 in a tightly contested final. Their legacy is defined by excellence and expectation.

Opponents URA FC boast a respectable pedigree of their own, with three Uganda Cup titles to their name, the most recent arriving in the 2013/14 season. Known for their past discipline and resilience, URA represent a formidable challenge capable of unsettling even the most decorated sides.

Kitara FC vs Express FC – Old Glory Meets New Triumph

Kitara FC are the newest entrants into the winners’ circle, having claimed their maiden Uganda Cup title in the 2023/24 season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over NEC FC. Their recent success signals a shift in the competitive landscape, marking them as a rising force with growing ambition.

Across from them stand Express FC, a club synonymous with tradition and dominance. Joint record holders with ten titles, the Red Eagles’ last Uganda Cup success dates back to the 2006/07 season. Though years have passed since their last triumph, their history commands respect, and their hunger for revival remains undiminished.

SC Villa vs Happy Boyz Kagaba – Legacy vs Dream

Few clubs in Uganda can rival the illustrious history of SC Villa, who boast nine Uganda Cup titles, second only to Express FC and KCCA FC. Their last success came in the 2014/15 season, when they emphatically defeated KCCA 3-0 in the final. Villa’s identity is deeply intertwined with silverware and supremacy.

In stark contrast, Happy Boyz Kagaba represent the romance of the cup. Yet to win the competition, their presence in the quarterfinals already marks a historic achievement, their deepest run ever. Playing with nothing to lose and everything to gain, they embody the unpredictable magic that defines knockout football.

A Tournament Balanced Between Legacy and Possibility

This year’s Uganda Cup quarterfinals present a compelling narrative: decorated giants seeking to reaffirm their dominance, emerging powers aiming to cement their place among the elite, and fearless underdogs daring to dream.
