Mukwala on Fire: Uganda Cranes Striker Lighting Up Libya with Dream Start

Uganda Cranes forward Steven Mukwala is wasting no time announcing himself in North Africa, continuing his red-hot start with Libyan top-flight side Al Nasr SC Benghazi.

The in-form striker found the net once again over the weekend, scoring in a friendly victory against Tunisian giants Étoile du Sahel on Sunday. While it may have been a friendly fixture, Mukwala’s growing confidence in front of goal is anything but casual.

His latest strike adds to an already impressive early record; three goals and one assist in his first five competitive appearances for Al Nasr. For a player still settling into a new environment, Mukwala is showing the kind of sharpness and composure that quickly wins over fans and coaches alike.

The move to Libya marked a new chapter in a steadily rising career. Mukwala joined Al Nasr from Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC, where he spent one and a half seasons honing his craft and gaining valuable continental experience.

Prior to that, he featured for Ghanaian heavyweights Asante Kotoko, further broadening his exposure on the African football scene.

His journey, however, is deeply rooted in Uganda. Mukwala first made his mark in the Uganda Premier League, turning out for Vipers SC, Maroons FC, and URA FC. It was through these stints that he developed into one of the country’s most reliable attacking options.

On the international stage, Mukwala remains a key figure for the Uganda Cranes, having earned over 30 caps.
