Cricket Uganda has unveiled an ambitious 10-year vision to establish a permanent ‘Home of Cricket’ in Nakasajja, marking a bold step in the sport’s long-term development.
Speaking at the federation’s AGM over the weekend, Chairman Jackson Kavuma outlined plans to transform the land into a national hub for cricket, complete with structured pathways for talent development and elite team preparation.
“We are calculatedly working towards achieving our goals, including having a proper Home of Cricket in Nakasajja in an estimated period of 10 years, funds allowing,” he said.
The vision is anchored in a five-year strategic plan shaped through consultations with clubs and stakeholders.
Delegates emphasized grassroots expansion, improved national team structures, and athlete welfare as priorities.
While financial constraints remain, the federation’s commitment to sustainability and transparency, reinforced by the clean audit outcome, has given the project credibility.
Tornado Cricket Club delegate Chris Luswata described the initiative as “a turning point for cricket’s national footprint.”
If realized, the Nakasajja project would provide infrastructure and serve as a cultural anchor for the sport.
