By John Baptist Opua

Blacks Power are targeting another statement result against Kataka as the FUFA Big League promotion race tightens, with just two points separating the two sides ahead of Wednesday’s meeting at Ebenezer University Playground.

Assistant head coach John Ongida said the team has sharpened its focus in the final stages of the campaign, stressing the need to cut out costly mistakes.

“We are ready for the challenge. This is a crucial stage and we cannot afford errors,” Ongida said as the team wrapped up preparations.

He acknowledged the threat posed by Kataka FC, describing them as an experienced side with clear ambitions, but maintained that Blacks Power FC are prepared for whatever comes.

“Kataka is a traditional team and they will come hungry, but we are ready to face every threat,” he added.

Ongida also pointed to the physical toll on the squad following a demanding spell that included participation in the FUFA Drum, where most of the players featured.

Despite the heavy schedule, he said the team has recovered well and remains competitive heading into the fixture.

Assistant captain Innocent Maduka echoed the coach’s sentiments, admitting fatigue is a concern but insisting it will not affect their approach.

“We are in good shape, though fatigue is there because of the many games. But we will not fold under pressure. We know Kataka are also pushing hard, so we must give our best,” Maduka said.

Ongida also called on supporters from Lango to maintain their backing, noting that the team continues to draw energy from the stands during decisive moments in the season.

Blacks Power lead the table on 36 points, with Kataka in fourth on 34, leaving little margin for error as the race for promotion intensifies.
