The Perak Blueprint: Evaluating the Strategic Export of She Cranes’ Defensive Titans to the 2026 Malaysian Netball Super League

By Daniel Nyeko

The Malaysian Netball Super League (MNSL) has long stood as a distinguished arena for international talent. The recent acquisition of Haniisha Muhameed and Faridah Kadondi by Perak Phoenix signals a profound endorsement of Uganda’s defensive blueprint.

The Netball League: Why Professionalization Is Key

This dual signing is not merely a testament to individual excellence—it is a meticulous procurement of elite assets from the She Cranes’ world-class defensive unit.

The Architecture of Perak Phoenix Procurement
Under the guidance of Head Coach Almastara Hasim and Manager Paridah Abdul Karim, Perak Phoenix secures in Haniisha a multi-talented operator.

Her ability to transition from a formidable Goal Keeper (GK) to a clinical Goal Shooter (GS) provides rare tactical versatility in netball. Faridah Kadondi arrives as a specialist in anticipation, built on the unyielding aerial dominance that has become the hallmark of the She Cranes’ style.

The Stage: Stadium Juara and the MNSL Legacy

Now entering its fifth year of professional maturity since its 2020 inception, the MNSL has established itself as a proving ground in Southeast Asia. The Ugandan stars will compete at the iconic Juara Stadium, the very heart of Malaysian netball where the formative season tipped off in 2021.

Perak Phoenix, donning their signature yellow, joins a competitive field of eight elite teams, including pioneering champions KL Wildcats and powerhouses like Johor Jewels. For Haniisha and Kadondi, the mission is clear: elevate Perak Phoenix into the upper echelons of MNSL elite.

The Gauntlet: A Rigorous Competitive Format

The road to the championship is a punishing test of endurance and tactical cohesion. In adherence to World Netball Regulations, the MNSL format demands peak physical condition.

– Group Phase: Teams are separated into two groups in a double round-robin format. Every victory is hard-earned, with three points awarded for a win and one for a draw.
– Knockout Phase: Only the top two from each group advance to the high-stakes single-elimination knockout stage.
– Grand Finale: Winners progress to the ultimate championship match, while defeated semifinalists contest a third-place playoff to determine final podium standings.

The Countdown: Tipping Off in Kuala Lumpur

The 2026 MNSL season officially commences this Saturday, April 11. Over a relentless six-week campaign ending May 17, the Ugandan stars will face a 64-match odyssey, including the inaugural NSL Regional Cup. This is more than a league opener—it is where Ugandan tenacity meets Malaysian flair.

As Perak Phoenix prepares to unveil their new Ugandan anchors this weekend, the narrative shifts from regional dominance to global indispensability. Haniisha Muhameed and Faridah Kadondi are no longer just national treasures; they are international ambassadors of excellence, poised to leave an indelible mark on Malaysian hardwood.
