Uganda Athletics will stage its inaugural National Athletics Coaches Forum on April 10, 2026, at Mandela National Stadium, marking a milestone in the country’s sporting development.
The one-day forum, running from 8:00am to 3:30pm, will convene coaches nationwide for plenary discussions on governance, athlete development, and professional standards. A key agenda item will be the election of leaders for the coaches’ association, including male and female representatives, establishing structured leadership within the fraternity.
The program also includes dissemination of the Uganda Athletics safeguarding policy and refresher sessions on coaches’ roles and responsibilities. These are designed to reinforce ethical practice and professionalism in athlete management.
In a forward-looking move, participants will be introduced to a proposed national licensing system, with guidance on its process and benefits. The initiative aims to standardize coaching and ensure consistency in athlete development across Uganda.
Practical training sessions on data collection and information management will further equip coaches with modern tools for performance tracking and informed decision-making.
