The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced the death of Nakisuyi Ruth Biribawa Safia, the mother of its president Moses Magogo, who passed away on April 8, 2026, at Kampala Hospital.
In a statement released on Wednesday, FUFA said the loss comes shortly after another bereavement in the family, following the recent death of Magogo’s aunt, describing the period as “particularly difficult” for the football administrator and his family.
FUFA extended condolences to Magogo, Anita Annet Among, who is his spouse, as well as their family, friends, and the people of Budiope East.
Magogo also confirmed the death in a personal message, writing: “Inalilahi wa inalilahi Rajihuun. Maama Nakisuyi Ruth Biribawa Safia (my biological mother) has gone back to Allah at 82 years. We thank Allah for the time He has lent her to us. What a month it has been to the family.”

Vigil prayers will be held at the family’s ancestral home in Kagulu, Buyende District on Thursday, April 9, with burial scheduled for Friday, April 10, at his home in Nalina, Kagulu.
FUFA called upon the football community and the public to keep Magogo and his family in prayer during the mourning period.
