Meron Kyomugisha will take a five-stroke lead into the final day of the 2026 Kilembe Mines Ladies Open after extending her advantage in Friday’s second round at Kilembe Mines Golf Club in Kasese.
Kyomugisha, who led by one shot after the opening round, carded 82 to move to a total of 162 gross over 36 holes, maintaining control of the field in the three-day World Amateur Golf Ranking event.
She began the day narrowly ahead of former Uganda Open champion Peace Kabasweka but produced a steady round to stay in front heading into Saturday’s decider on the hilly Kilembe layout.
Joyce Kisembo has emerged as the closest challenger, sitting second on 167 gross, five strokes off the lead, setting up a final-round chase as the tournament reaches its conclusion.
The championship, played over 54 holes, concludes on Saturday with Kyomugisha in pole position to secure the title if she can hold off the chasing pack.
