Uganda will return to action in the Women’s Easter T20 Cup on Sunday, April 12, with back-to-back fixtures against USA and Uganda A at the Entebbe Cricket Ground.
The matches come a day after USA claimed their first win of the tournament, beating Uganda A by 20 runs on Friday. That result has added context to Sunday’s schedule, with USA gaining confidence and Uganda A looking to respond after letting a promising chase slip.
Uganda A had restricted USA to 107/7 before a solid start in the chase, reaching 33/1 in the powerplay through Jimia Abdallah Muhammed and Asumin Akurut. However, the innings stalled as wickets fell at regular intervals, eventually closing on 87/7.
Jimia top-scored with 37 and Asumin added 23, but the rest of the batting line-up struggled to maintain momentum against a disciplined USA attack. The result highlighted both Uganda A’s potential and their difficulty in closing out games from strong positions.
That performance now feeds into Sunday’s fixtures. Uganda A will be aiming to tighten their middle overs batting, while USA will look to build on the control and consistency that delivered their first win.
For Uganda, the schedule presents a different challenge. Facing both USA and Uganda A in the same round demands squad rotation and clarity in approach, particularly against a USA side that has already shown it can defend modest totals.
Saturday has been a rest day for all teams, offering a reset after rain affected earlier fixtures and a chance to recalibrate ahead of a decisive round.
Sunday’s games are expected to shape the direction of the tournament, with USA chasing momentum, Uganda A seeking a response, and Uganda looking to assert control across both fixtures.
