Teenage sprint star Gout Gout electrified the Australian championships on Sunday, running 19.67 seconds to win the 200m, his first legal sub-20 and the fastest time of his career.
Aidan Murphy followed in 19.88, giving Australia the two quickest times of the year.
The much-anticipated clash with Lachlan Kennedy didn’t happen, as Kennedy withdrew after winning the 100m in 9.96 — the fastest ever by an Australian at home.
The meet also saw Cameron Myers post a world-leading 3:29.85 in the 1500m, Jessica Hull rebound from a fall to win the 5000m, and Olympic champions Nina Kennedy and Nicola Olyslagers secure national titles in pole vault and high jump.
