The rescheduled match between BUL and Villa is set for Friday, March 15th, at 4 pm at the FUFA Technical Centre, following its previous postponement.
Villa’s absence of four players, who participated in the ‘Dire Cup’ in Ethiopia as part of the national U-20 team, initially led to the postponement.
Despite missing four key players, who are participating in the All-Africa Games in Ghana, Villa sought permission from the UPL to proceed with their matches.
Neither side can afford to lose more points if they harbor hopes of clinching the league title.
Villa enters this match with confidence after securing a win against rivals Express in their previous league fixture.
Currently sitting 5th with 33 points from 18 matches, Villa seeks to climb into the top four with a win against BUL, especially if Vipers lose their match against KCCA later in the evening.
On the other hand, following a 1-0 loss at home against UPDF in Njeru, second-placed BUL, currently with 39 points from 20 matches, is determined to bounce back to winning ways and close the four-point gap between them and league leaders Kitara to just 1 point.
BUL had managed to establish their home ground as something of a fortress, but they suffered their first home loss of the season in their previous league fixture. Out of the nine home matches they have played so far, BUL has won 6 and drawn 2.
Villa’s performance away from home this season has been less than convincing, with only 2 wins out of 8 matches so far. Despite this, they have maintained an unbeaten record on the road.
In the reverse fixture at the Muteesa II Stadium, BUL secured a 2-1 victory over their opponents.
In terms of head-to-head statistics, BUL holds a slight advantage over Villa, having won 10 of their last 27 meetings compared to Villa’s 8 victories, with 9 draws between them.
Across the last five confrontations between these two teams in all competitions, BUL has displayed superiority by securing 4 wins, whereas Villa has managed just 1 victory.
Key to note is BUL’s dominance in home matches against Villa, winning four of their last five encounters across all competitions. Villa’s last victory away to BUL dates back to October 15th, 2017.
The game will be broadcast live on Sanyuka Prime, with the match buildup scheduled to start as early as 3:30 pm.
