World No 1 Jannik Sinner says his focus at the Madrid Open is sharpening for Roland Garros, the only Grand Slam missing from his collection.
Fresh from his Monte Carlo Masters triumph over Carlos Alcaraz, the 24‑year‑old admitted Madrid has been a difficult venue, with altitude and wind posing challenges.
“We try to maximise to be in the best possible shape [for Paris],” he said.
Sinner, who lost a classic final to Alcaraz at Roland Garros last year, begins his Madrid campaign in round two.
The Italian noted the absence of Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic as “a big pity,” but remains top seed and favourite for a fifth straight Masters crown.
