Chelsea’s 18‑year‑old winger Estevao Willian has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, casting doubt on his World Cup place.
He limped off in the 1‑0 defeat to Manchester United, leaving coach Liam Rosenior “devastated.”
Estevao, who has scored eight goals in his debut campaign, is a regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad.
Sources insist he could recover in time for Brazil’s opener against Morocco on 13 June, but his fitness remains uncertain.
Chelsea, already hit by injuries to Reece James and Cole Palmer, have slipped to seventh after a 3‑0 loss at Brighton, with Champions League hopes fading and Rosenior under pressure.
