The Cricket Cranes soared high in their opening match of the All Africa Games with a convincing victory over neighbouring rivals Kenya.
Winning the toss, Uganda opted to bat first, setting a challenging target of 169 runs. Kenya, in response, struggled to find their footing against the relentless bowling attack of the Cranes, managing to score only 97 runs before being bowled out with all wickets lost.
Uganda are in Group A alongside Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa.
In the other Group A fixture, South Africa asserted their dominance with a commanding 134-run victory over Ghana.
Looking ahead, the Cricket Cranes are set to face Ghana on Monday, March 18, followed by a highly anticipated showdown against South Africa on Wednesday, March 20.
With their sights set on the semi-finals, a victory against Ghana would greatly enhance Uganda’s chances of advancing in their quest for gold at the All-Africa Games.
