Italian referee chief Gianluca Rocchi has suspended himself after being placed under investigation for alleged sporting fraud during the 2024–25 season.
The Milan Prosecutor’s Office is examining claims he influenced referee appointments and pressured officials. VAR supervisor Andrea Gervasoni has also stepped down.

Rocchi, 52, insists he will be cleared, saying his decision was to protect the refereeing body: “I am certain I will emerge unscathed and stronger than before.”
Sporting fraud in Italy carries a maximum six-year prison sentence.
