Michael Carrick downplayed speculation over becoming Manchester United’s permanent manager after a dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool secured Champions League football.
Goals from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško were cancelled out before Kobbie Mainoo struck late, praising Carrick’s impact: “You want to fight for him and die for him on the pitch.”
Carrick, who has beaten Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Liverpool, said: “It feels natural, but it’s a difficult role. Champions League was in the distance, so to be here with three games left is a good achievement.”
He stressed United must push on: “That can’t be everything. We want more, consistently.”
