Uganda’s cricket team, the Cricket Cranes, clinched a resounding victory against Ghana in their second match at the All Africa Games. The match, held at the Achimota Complex, saw Uganda emerge victorious by 121 runs.
With Uganda batting first, the Cricket Cranes set an impressive target of 194/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
However, it was the exceptional performance of Simon Ssesazi that stole the spotlight. Ssesazi’s remarkable innings, scoring 90 runs off just 50 balls, including nine boundaries and four sixes, proved to be the cornerstone of Uganda’s commanding total.
His contribution with the bat, coupled with his crucial run-out dismissal, earned him the well-deserved title of Player of the Match.
Ghana, facing a daunting chase, faltered under the pressure of Uganda’s formidable bowling attack. Despite their efforts, they could only manage to score 73 runs, losing all their wickets in just 16 overs.
With this triumph, Uganda solidifies their position in Group A of the tournament, alongside Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa.
