Halimah Nakaayi, the 2019 800m world champion, left her mark at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Nakaayi soared through the women’s 800m final, clinching the silver medal with an impressive time of 1:58:59.
Reflecting on her performance, Nakaayi humbly attributed her success to the grace of God.
“I thank the Almighty God for helping me win the silver medal,” she said.
Despite initially setting her sights on gold, she acknowledged the invaluable lessons learned from such competitions, recognizing areas in which she could continue to grow and improve.
With her focus now on the Olympics, Nakaayi remained resolute in her belief that with hard work, anything is possible.
Nakaayi’s teammate, Susan Aneno, also showcased her talent, finishing 6th in the 800m event with a commendable time of 2:04.79.
Ethiopia’s athlete secured victory in the 800m with a time of 1:57:73, while Kenya’s Vivian Chebet finished 3rd, earning the bronze medal.
