Southampton have been charged by the EFL after a staff member was allegedly caught filming Middlesbrough’s training ahead of Saturday’s Championship play-off semi-final.
The analyst is said to have recorded footage and taken photos of tactics before being confronted and leaving.
Middlesbrough reported the incident, prompting charges under rules on “good faith” and bans on observing opponents’ training within 72 hours of a match.
The EFL has asked for the case to be fast-tracked, while Southampton say they will cooperate but offered no further comment.
The first leg kicks off at Riverside Stadium on Saturday, with the return at St Mary’s on Tuesday.
