Jean-Philippe Mateta struck late to earn Crystal Palace a 2-2 draw against Everton at Selhurst Park, a result that dents the Toffees’ hopes of sneaking into Europe.
Everton had twice led, first through James Tarkowski’s close-range finish from a corner in the sixth minute, then via Beto’s composed strike just after half-time.
Palace responded each time: Ismaila Sarr’s deflected effort levelled before the break, and Mateta’s thumping finish in the 77th minute punished slack defending to restore parity.
The draw leaves Palace comfortably clear of danger and focused on their upcoming Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano, while Everton remain winless in five and stuck in 10th place.
David Moyes’ side missed the chance to move level with Brentford in eighth, a position that could yet secure European football depending on cup outcomes.
Both teams had late chances, with Adam Wharton rattling the post for Palace, but neither found a winner.
Palace now face title-chasing Manchester City and Arsenal, while Everton must rediscover their edge against Sunderland and Tottenham if they are to salvage continental qualification.
