The Premier League’s Key Match Incidents panel has confirmed three more VAR errors, lifting this season’s total to 23 — up 35% on last year.
Everton, still without a single VAR call in their favour, were denied a penalty in their 3-3 draw with Manchester City when Bernardo Silva held Merlin Rohl at a corner. David Moyes blasted the decision, with the panel unanimously agreeing a spot-kick should have been awarded.
It was Everton’s third missed penalty intervention this season, following incidents against Arsenal and West Ham.
Other rulings saw Bournemouth’s penalty against Crystal Palace deemed incorrect, while West Ham were denied two spot-kicks in their defeat at Brentford.
The growing list of errors has intensified scrutiny on VAR’s role in shaping the Premier League season.
