Aston Villa ended a 30-year trophy drought with a 3-0 Europa League final victory over Freiburg in Istanbul.
Goals from Youri Tielemans, Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers secured Villa’s first European silverware since 1982.
Unai Emery, now a five-time Europa League winner, urged the club to build on the triumph: “We must set ambition. Next year we play Champions League and the Premier League is the most difficult in the world. This is the challenge.”
Freiburg’s debut European final ended in disappointment, with coach Julian Schuster admitting his side “lost control of the game.”
Villa’s night on the Bosphorus confirmed their return among Europe’s elite, with Emery insisting: “We are not going to stop.”
