Following their fourth-place finish at the 13th African Games, the Victoria Pearls cricket team have returned to training at Lugogo Cricket Oval. This is as they prepare for the upcoming Global T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.
The team are training under the guidance of the newly appointed Strength & Conditioning and Fielding Coach, Sachin Japtap with day one seeing them take part in fielding drills.
The ICC T20 Global Women’s World Cup qualifiers, is a crucial opportunity for the Victoria Pearls to secure a spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup to be hosted in Bangladesh in September.
With the qualifiers set to kick off on April 25 and run until May 7, the Victoria Pearls are in Group A alongside Sri Lanka, Thailand, Scotland, and USA.
A total of 20 matches will be played during the Group stage, with the top two teams from each group battling it out in the semi-finals. The teams who make it to the final will qualify for the main event.
