Over 150 motorsports enthusiasts from Uganda heading to the WRC Safari in Naivasha were flagged off at the Kenya High Commission in Kololo. The event was graced by the Kenya High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Maj Gen. George A Owinow.
In his speech, H.E. Maj Gen. George A Owinow emphasized the significance of the partnership between Uganda and Kenya in the realm of tourism, underscoring the potential for collaboration and mutual benefit.
Josephine Mbela, the Assistant Marketing Manager for domestic and African markets, illuminated the synergies between sports and tourism, highlighting the immense value that events like the WRC Safari Rally bring to the region.
Emaru James Francies, CEO of Rally Hunters Ug, conveyed heartfelt sentiments on behalf of the fans, expressing their eagerness to be part of this exhilarating journey.
A total of 29 crews, including notable figures such as Yasin Nasser and his co-driver Ali Katumba, will be navigating 229 competitive miles of action-packed terrain in Kenya. As the sole representatives from Uganda, their participation adds a unique flair to this year’s event, alongside the reigning World Rally Champion, Kalle Rovanpera.
The WRC Safari Rally 2024 will take place from March 28 to 31 in Naivasha.
