Uganda Premier League rivals SC Villa and KCCA FC are preparing for a fierce contest in the transfer market as both clubs intensify their pursuit of Police FC midfielder Ryan Kizito Figo ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The highly-regarded Uganda U20 international has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in the domestic game following a series of impressive displays for the Cops, attracting attention from some of the country’s biggest clubs.
Swift Sports indicates that SC Villa have identified Kizito as a key target as they seek to reshape their squad for the upcoming season. The 17-time league champions are eager to bolster their midfield department with youthful quality and believe the versatile playmaker possesses the attributes needed to elevate the team’s attacking dynamics.
Villa’s interest comes after a challenging season that ended without any major honours. The Jogoos concluded the league campaign in third place before falling short in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final, where they were beaten by Kitara FC.
Despite Villa’s strong interest, KCCA FC remain firmly in the hunt for the youngster’s signature.
The Lugogo-based side are also understood to be admirers of Kizito’s talent and are exploring the possibility of bringing him on board as part of their rebuilding efforts. Club officials view the midfielder as a long-term investment capable of strengthening their squad as they aim to reclaim domestic supremacy.
KCCA’s pursuit reflects their determination to bounce back from another season of near misses. The Kasasiro Boys finished as runners-up in the Uganda Premier League and exited the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the quarterfinal stage, extending their wait for major silverware. Their last league triumph remains the 2018/19 title-winning campaign under Mike Hillary Mutebi.
With both Kampala giants eager to reinforce their squads and return to the summit of Ugandan football, Ryan Kizito Figo’s future is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the window.
As interest continues to grow, Police FC could soon find themselves at the centre of a high-profile battle between two of the country’s most decorated clubs for the signature of one of Uganda’s brightest emerging midfield talents.
