It has been a high goal-scoring 2023/24 FUFA Big League season, with several players showcasing encouraging performances in the race for the golden boot.
Denis Omedi holds the record for the most goals scored in a single season of the FUFA Big League after netting 20 goals for Booma FC in last season’s competition. With less than ten games remaining, this season’s strikers face a daunting task to surpass his achievement.
Currently, Police FC’s Isaac Ogwang leads the scoring charts with 12 goals. Dickson Niwamanya of Booma FC and Innocent Maduka of Blacks Powers follow closely with 8 goals each, while Sam Semugugu of Lugazi FC has scored 7 goals.
Caesar Okhuti from Onduparaka, Seremba Joseph representing Kigezi Home Boys, and Ian Amanya of Kaaro Karungi have each scored six goals.
Speaking to NBS Sport, Lugazi’s Semugugu shared his aspirations of helpimg the team gain promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
“I have a dream to lead Lugazi FC to the Premier League, and I will continue to work hard to score goals and bring joy to the fans,” noted Semugugu.
The FUFA Big League action returns this Saturday with six fixtures scheduled for match day 21.
