Maroons arrested their six-game winless run in the premier league with a 2-0 home victory over struggling Express FC on Thursday at the Luzira grounds. Fred Amaku opened the scoring in the 51st minute with his 10th goal of the campaign, before Ronald Orombi capped his man of the match performance with the second goal in the 63rd minute.
This win marked the first victory for the Luzira side, which had lost and drawn thrice in the last six games. Meanwhile, Express FC has now suffered defeat in their last four matches, and head coach Baker Mbowa is still awaiting his first win in charge since replacing Alex Isabirye.
Maroons completed a double over the Red Eagles, following a 1-0 win at Wankulukuku in the reverse fixture. They currently sit 6th in the league with 34 points from 22 games, while Express FC is 9th with 29 points from 22 games.
The action continues this Friday with a top-of-the-table clash, to be broadcast live on Sanyuka Prime, as Kitara hosts BUL FC in Masindi. Kitara leads the table with 43 points, four above second-placed BUL FC. Ten-man BUL beat Kitara 2-1 in Njeru in the reverse fixture.
In another game, Wakiso Giants will host NEC in Wakiso. The two sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture in Lugogo.
