Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi will face trial in France after prosecutors confirmed charges of raping a 24‑year‑old woman at his Paris home in 2023.
An investigating judge ordered the trial in February, and Hakimi’s appeal to dismiss the case was rejected. The PSG defender, 27, has denied the allegations, saying he has “been waiting for this trial since day one.”
The plaintiff’s lawyer welcomed the ruling, calling it “relief and hope” after three years of proceedings. No trial date has been set.
Hakimi is set to lead Morocco against Scotland in Boston on Friday, but his participation in later World Cup stages could be complicated if matches move to Canada or Mexico, where entry can be denied to those facing criminal charges.
