FUFA Women’s Cup Final Set For Kadiba as Kawempe Muslim and Kampala Queens Chase First Title

The 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup reaches its climax today at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, where Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Kampala Queens FC face off in a highly anticipated final kicking off at 3:00 PM.

Both sides arrive with strong tournament runs behind them and the added motivation of lifting the trophy for the very first time, setting up a tight contest to decide the seventh edition of the competition.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC enter the final with a flawless defensive record and growing confidence after a dominant campaign. They began with a narrow 1-0 win over Uganda Martyrs WFC before beating Wakiso Hill WFC 2-0 in the quarter-finals. Their biggest statement came in the semi-finals where they swept aside Amus College WFC 6-0 on aggregate. They have not conceded a single goal in the entire tournament, a record that underlines their organisation and control at the back.

Kampala Queens FC, meanwhile, are chasing history in their first ever appearance in the final. Their journey has mixed attacking authority with resilience, starting with a 4-1 win over She Kasese WFC before a tight 1-0 victory against St Noa Girls FC in the quarter-finals. They then delivered a commanding 4-0 aggregate win over Lady Doves FC in the semi-finals to book their place in today’s showdown. They have conceded just once in the competition, matching Kawempe’s defensive discipline in a different way.

The tactical balance between the two sides has been a key talking point ahead of kick off, with both teams combining strong defensive structures with the ability to strike in key moments. Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub Khalifa said his side are ready for the challenge and focused on execution. “We have worked hard to reach this stage and the players understand what is at stake. We respect our opponents, but we are focused on delivering a strong performance and competing for the trophy,” he said.

Kampala Queens head coach Firew Asefa also expressed belief in his squad ahead of their biggest match yet. “The team has shown great character throughout the competition. Reaching the final is a special achievement, but our objective now is to finish the job and compete for the trophy,” he noted.

There is also added significance for Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, who have already secured the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League title. Victory today would see them complete a historic domestic double, becoming the first club to win both league and cup in the same season.

The final will be officiated by FIFA referee Shamirah Nabadda, with assistants Elizabeth Nassolo and Lydia Nantabo Wanyama, while Josephine Nantongo serves as fourth official. Rahman Kizito will act as referee assessor and Joan Nakambugu as general coordinator.

If the teams are level after normal time, extra time will be played before a penalty shootout if required, ensuring a decisive conclusion to a season that has already delivered strong competition and rising standards in women’s football.
