Guinness Uganda has unveiled a three-year partnership with rugby clubs, Kobs, Rhinos, and Warriors. The partnership valued at over Shs400 million annually will see Legends Rugby Grounds in Lugogo and Pitstop Sports Lounge in Jinja serve as the official homes of Guinness Rugby for the next three years.
Matilda Babuleka, Head of Beer at Uganda Breweries, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “Guinness is committed to growing rugby in Uganda, and this partnership reaffirms our dedication to supporting the sport at all levels, from grassroots to elite.”
Under the agreement, Guinness will inject UGX 400 million annually into Ugandan rugby for the next three years, signaling a significant investment in the sport’s development.
Guinness’ involvement in rugby extends beyond Uganda, with the brand sponsoring major tournaments such as the Guinness Six Nations Championship.
Locally, Guinness has been intertwined with Ugandan rugby since 2007, supporting initiatives like the Guinness Rugby Sevens League and the national Sevens team.
The partnership announcement comes amidst the ongoing Guinness Fun Rugby tournament in Jinja.
