Kitara FC hope to complete a double against NEC FC when the two sides face off in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League this Thursday night at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. The visiting Royals won the reverse fixture 1-0 last December, courtesy of Jude Semugabi’s first-half goal.
Brian Senyondo’s side, coming off a barren home stalemate against BUL, leads the standings with 44 points, 4 above second-placed BUL FC and seven above their hosts, who lost 1-0 away to Wakiso Giants in their last fixture. Semugabi believes they have enough in the armoury to secure their sixth away win of the campaign.
“We are set for the game against NEC. We did not get the three points we wanted from the last game, but we have since moved on as we continue to chase our season target,” he noted. Marvin Kavuma, the NEC Captain, is confident they will put an end to Kitara’s dominance, having lost the three previous meetings. “We put up a strong fight in the first round against them, and we are ready to make home advantage count,” he said.
In the other game, 16-time record champions SC Villa are travelling to struggling Busoga United, who are winless in the last six fixtures. The hosts find themselves 14th in relegation, 22 points below third-placed SC Villa, who have won their last three encounters.
