Uganda’s women’s cricket national team, the Victoria Pearls are gearing up to compete in the T20 Women’s Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi. Scheduled from April 25th to May 7th, 2024, this tournament holds the key for teams aiming to secure a coveted spot in the 2024 T20 Women’s World Cup in Bangladesh.
In Group A, the Victoria Pearls will lock horns with formidable opponents including Scotland, Thailand, the USA, and Sri Lanka.
The journey kicks off on April 25th at Tolerance Oval, where Uganda will face off against Scotland. Following this, on April 27th, the Victoria Pearls will clash with the USA at the iconic Zayed Cricket Stadium, marking their first encounter with the American side.
Uganda will then return to Tolerance Oval on April 29th to take on Thailand, aiming to maintain their momentum in the group stage. The final group stage match for the Victoria Pearls will be against Sri Lanka on May 1st at Zayed Cricket Stadium, where they will strive to secure a crucial victory before the knockout stage.
With only the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals, the pressure is on for the Victoria Pearls to deliver stellar performances throughout the tournament. A spot in the finals guarantees passage to the prestigious T20 Women’s World Cup.
The semi-finals will take place on Sunday 5th May with the finals on Tuesday 7th May, at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
