The Uganda U16 Women national team left for Turkey in the wee hours of Tuesday ahead of the inaugural UEFA U16 Friendship Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey scheduled for 9th-19th this month. The team had a practice match where they lost 3-2 to Kawempe Muslim Secondary School courtesy of Nanyunja Kevin, Nabawanuka Belinda and Mable Adong goals while Bushirah Nalunkuuma and Vanessa Namazzi got the goals for the National Team. Head coach Charles Ayiekoh believes that the friendly gave him the best picture of the team set up and expectation.
“I am happy because the girls have managed to show that we are going to compete,” he revealed.
The invitational tournament is an initiative by UEFA and this is the inaugural edition that will feature eight nations namely; Uganda, hosts Turkey, Botswana, USA, Vietnam, China, Paraguay and Wales.
