The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has secured full registration and recognition by the government of Uganda.
This was confirmed by the association president Moses Al Sayed Lubega during the rescheduled 2023 annual general meeting on Saturday, April 13th, 2024.
“This registration is a game-changer for USPA. As a fully registered and government-recognized body, we have the rights to act as a legal entity, the liberty to enter into agreements, engage in lobbying efforts, and undertake various other privileges that were previously beyond our reach,” said Moses Al Sayed.
The Executive also revealed strategic plans as well accounting for the period since taking office in 2022.
There was also a presentation of the audited financial report and projections.
USPA’s journey to this milestone has been marked by significant achievements and fruitful relationships with key government bodies, such as Parliament, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Works and Transport.
They have also collaborated successfully with the private sector, securing sponsorships from Nile Special and Plascon, among others.
USPA has been leading initiatives aimed at improving the rights and working conditions of sports journalists in Uganda as well as conducting awareness campaigns such as the road safety campaign aimed at raising awareness of road safety and proper road usage.
Additionally, USPA recognizes outstanding sports personalities monthly, offering prize money and honors as they shape the future of sports journalism in Uganda.
