The 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) boys’ football championship kicked off in Masaka city on Saturday, April 27th, with a flurry of matches across various venues.
St Julian High School set the tone for the tournament with a commanding 6-0 victory over St Kagwa Bushenyi High School at the Arena playground. Simon Wanyama’s outstanding performance saw him netting a hat-trick, complemented by goals from James Ssekate, Isaac Kakululu Mukisa, and Patrick Ssenkusu, securing a decisive win for St Julian.
Meanwhile, Kabalega SS demonstrated their prowess on the field with a resounding 4-0 victory over Hill View SS. Additionally, Andy Mwesigwa and Blessed Sacrament Kimanya each clinched 3-0 victories over Makobore High School and Tawheed Institute, respectively.
Representing Wakiso district, London College showcased their strength by defeating Bungangari Secondary School with a convincing 3-0 win.
In a closely contested match, Amus College edged past Rwakasinga Che with a narrow 1-0 victory, courtesy of Hakim Musaba’s second-half goal.
The defending champions, St Mary’s Kitende, faced a tough challenge against Kisozi Seed but managed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win, with Denis Kisiriko finding the net.
