Mbarara City staged a dramatic comeback to hold league leaders Kitara to a 1-1 draw, while Busoga United secured a crucial point against URA, further intensifying the title race and the relegation battle.
Denis Omedi’s early goal gave Kitara the lead in the ninth minute, raising their hopes of extending their lead at the top of the standings. However, Mbarara City’s Seiri Arigumaho had other plans, equalizing in the 80th minute from a Joseph Akandwanaho’s cross.
The draw means Kitara now have 48 points, just two points ahead of Vipers and BUL, who have games in hand, denting their chances in the league’s title race.
Meanwhile, Mbarara City now have 30 points and this means they are free from the relegation battle.
In the other fixture of the day, relegation threatened Busoga United’s goalless draw against URA proved vital in their battle for survival, as they now sit three points above the relegation zone.
Attention now turns to Namboole Stadium where BUL host Vipers and Villa visit KCCA, two crucial games in this season’s title race.
