Algeria Hosts Second Leg of CAF Club Licensing Regional Workshop

Algeria hosted the second leg of the CAF Club Licensing Regional Workshop 2024, following a successful kick-off in Mauritania. Aimed at engaging all 54 of CAF’s Member Associations, the ongoing workshop convenes 12 French-speaking nations in the North African country.

Over the course of four days, the workshop in Algeria is dedicated to assisting Member Associations in understanding and implementing CAF’s Club Licensing Regulations, with a focus on their potential benefits. This initiative underscores CAF’s commitment to enhancing transparency, competitiveness, and sustainability within African football.

Following the conclusion of the workshop in Algeria, similar gatherings are scheduled to take place in Ethiopia and Ghana in the ensuing weeks, further extending the reach and impact of the program across the continent.

Nadir Bouzenad, Secretary General of FAF, conveyed appreciation for hosting the regional workshop, acknowledging the participation of sister federations. Bouzenad commended CAF’s efforts in advancing football development in Africa, citing Club Licensing as a pivotal mechanism in achieving these objectives.

The workshop in Algiers will address key topics vital to the successful implementation of Club Licensing, including updates on the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), status reviews of implementation within national competitions, communication strategies for licensing decisions, stadium pre-inspection procedures, and training sessions for Club Licensing Managers (CLM).

With participation from Member Associations such as Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Burundi, and Tunisia, among others, the workshop represents a collaborative effort to bolster the infrastructure and governance of football across the African continent.
