Having failed to qualify for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) playoffs due later this month in Kigali, Rwanda, reigning Uganda league champions City Oilers will open their National Basketball League second round tomorrow evening.
Having lost their three first round games in the Nile Conference played in Cairo, Egypt, the Oilers stunned holders Al Ahly of Egypt for their only win of the campaign to finish bottom of the log with a 1-5 record.
Coach Andrew Tendo will look to the six-man local player contingent of captain James Okello, guards Tony Drileba, Ivan Muhwezi and Fayed Bale along with forwards Allawi Ssenkubuge and Titus Lual who were part of the campaign alongside the other players as they return back into action.
They face D-Mark Power at 9pm having emerged 73-38 winners when the two sides met in February. The Moses Okwera coached side have been boosted by the addition of Nigerian guard Kevin Ogunjimi, Taariq Julaam and forward Clinton Omondi as they look to recover from their 79-68 loss against JT Jaguars last week.
The women’s game will see JKL Lady Dolphins face KCCA Leopards in the opener at 7pm with action showing live on NBS Sport.
