Lando Norris delivered a remarkable performance to secure his first Formula 1 victory in his 110th race at the Miami Grand Prix. Capitalizing on a well-timed Safety Car, Norris pulled away from championship leader Max Verstappen to cross the finish line first.
This win breaks Norris’ unwanted record of holding the most podium finishes (15) without a victory in his six-year F1 career. McLaren, meanwhile, celebrates its first win since Daniel Ricciardo’s triumph in the 2021 Italian Grand Prix.
Ferrari, initially expected to challenge Verstappen, faced early setbacks as Oscar Piastri’s McLaren overtook both their cars at the start. Charles Leclerc managed to salvage a podium finish in third, followed by Carlos Sainz in fourth.
However, a post-race penalty for a collision with Piastri dropped Sainz to fifth behind Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. Piastri, affected by the incident, finished outside the points in 13th.
With this victory, Norris climbs the championship standings, now within 20 points of second-placed Perez. Verstappen maintains a comfortable lead, extending his advantage to 33 points after his Sprint victory on Saturday.
