Despite challenges within the netball governing body in Uganda, the country has flagged off four teams for the 2024 East Africa and Netball Club Championship in Tanzania.
Prisons and NIC Netball Clubs will represent Uganda in the Women’s category while Kampala University and WOB Netball Clubs will represent the country in the Men’s Category.
At the flag off ceremony officiated by NCS Deputy General Secretary, Mr. David Katende and the Uganda Netball Normalization Committee Chairperson Mr. Moses Mwase, the teams were urged to retain the regional trophies.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony, Kampala University Head Coach Jesse Assiimwe expressed confidence in the team’s readiness to face defending champions WOB, citing extensive training and the addition of new talent to the squad.
The championship, scheduled from May 12th to May 21st, 2024, will witness participation from clubs across East Africa, promising an exciting showcase of netball talent from the region.
