The Lady Cranes Sevens team is gearing up for a pivotal challenge as they aim to secure a coveted spot among the top four sides at the upcoming HSBC Challenger Series in Krakow, Poland. Their objective: to clinch qualification for the Madrid core status qualifiers.
After clinching fourth place finishes at both the Dubai and Uruguay legs earlier this year, head coach Charles Onen has today unveiled the final 12-player squad for the task ahead.
Injuries have necessitated two changes from the previous squad, with Kisubi Lady Pacers’ Getrude Kateesa and Nile Rapids winger Unity Namulala sidelined. Stepping in to fill the void are Racheal Mufuwa and Lona Sandra Amoli.
Leading the squad as captain is Peace Lekuru, supported by a talented lineup including Grace Nabagala, Agnes Nakuya, Lydia Namabiro, Mary Gloria Ayot, Juliet Nadawula, Maimuna Nassozi, Grace Auma, Sarah Kirabo, and Ritta Naddunga.
Uganda’s journey in the competition will see them confront familiar adversaries in Papa New Guinea and Argentina, while also encountering Paraguay for the first time.
