Brazil’s Copa America Squad: Endrick In, Casemiro and Richarlison Out

Brazil’s head coach Dorival Júnior has named his 23-player squad for the upcoming Copa America scheduled for 21st June – 15th July, with some high-profile exclusions and a promising young talent earning a spot.

Teenage sensation Endrick, who will join Real Madrid after the tournament, has been included in the squad, after showcasing his impressive performances in Brazil’s recent matches. The 17-year-old forward scored his first international goal in a friendly against England at Wembley, and followed it up with another strike against Spain.

However, several seasoned veterans have missed out on the squad, including Manchester United’s Casemiro and Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison. Dorival explained that Casemiro, Brazil’s captain, has been left out due to his disappointing club form, while Richarlison’s absence is due to a calf injury.

Other notable absentees are Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Chelsea’s Thiago Silva, who have also been omitted from the squad. Dorival stressed that the decisions were made with the team’s growth in mind, emphasizing that the team doesn’t need a single star player but rather a balanced collective effort.

The squad features a blend of experienced players and rising talents, with the likes of Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo expected to lead the attack. Brazil, the defending champions, will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign as they aim to lift their 10th Copa America title.
