Express’ Woes Continue as they Suffer Home Loss to NEC

Troubles continue for Express Football Club as they suffered another devastating defeat at home, losing 2-1 to NEC at the Muteesa II Royal Stadium in Wankulukuku.

The Wankulukuku side went behind just 5 minutes into the game courtesy of a stunning goal from old boy Enock Ssebagala.

Although they managed to draw level 15 minutes later when they were awarded a penalty, which was converted by forward Isaac Wagoina, it was an all-NEC affair for the remainder of the first half and the entirety of the second.

The guests dominated proceedings and eventually found the winning goal in the 57th minute, which was confirmed as an own goal by Express’ Musa Ssali.

The defeat is the fifth consecutive loss for the Red Eagles, three of which have come at their home ground. Their last victory dates back to April 6th, when they defeated URA.

Since then, they have suffered losses against league leaders BUL, second-placed Kitara, Busoga United, Vipers, and now NEC. The team’s poor run of form can be attributed to a number of factors, both on and off the pitch, including the apparent welfare issues plaguing the players.

Express will visit Gaddafi at the Gaddafi Arena in their final game of the season. They are currently in 9th place with 32 points, and have already secured safety in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
