The Platinum Credit Heathens and Stanbic Black Pirates have secured their spots in the 2024 Nile Special Rugby Championship final, following closely contested semifinal matches.
In the semifinals, the Heathens triumphed over KOBs with an aggregate score of 42-36. Despite losing the second-round match at home, their first-round performance provided a sufficient buffer to advance.
Similarly, the Pirates emerged victorious against the Jinja Hippos with an aggregate score of 54-51. The Pirates managed to overturn a first-round defeat, after Hippos won late on to lead the by 1 point.
The final is set for June 1st with reports suggesting it will be held at the Mandela National Stadium as a test match ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup.
It will be a rematch of the championship’s regular season, where the Heathens narrowly defeated the Pirates 16-12.
