URA Football Club has officially announced the reappointment of Alex Isabirye Musongola as their new head coach on a one-year contract. Isabirye steps in to replace David Obua, who was dismissed during the second round of the recently concluded Startimes Uganda Premier League season.
This marks a return for Isabirye, who previously led URA FC to their last league title in the 2010/2011 season and secured the Uganda Cup in 2012.
Club CEO Allan Munaaba expressed optimism about Isabirye’s return, highlighting his vast experience and previous success with the team as key assets.
“We are optimistic that Isabirye’s return will revive our glory days. His immediate challenge will be preparing the squad for the grand opening of the newly refurbished Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, where we last won our league title as a home ground,” Munaaba stated.
URA FC is set to face Kitara FC on June 1, 2024 in a match to mark the reopening of the refurbished Nakivubo Stadium.
Isabirye’s recent accomplishments include a double with Vipers in the 2022/23 season and the Stanbic Uganda Cup with BUL in 2022.
