Namboole Stadium is set to feature what the contractor terms as ‘customized floodlights’ ahead of Uganda’s crucial June World Cup qualifiers.
Lt. Col. Peter Seku Kidemuka, the Project Engineer overseeing the renovation works at the stadium, confirmed that the facility will feature 212 floodlights, promising optimal visibility on the pitch.
“We have imported customized floodlights for Namboole. We ordered 212 floodlights and once installed, you will see a clear pitch with no shade whatsoever,” Kidemuka stated.
He highlighted that these floodlights are capable of generating approximately 2000 lux of light, marking them among the best globally.
The upgraded lighting will debut during Uganda’s doubleheader in the World Cup qualifiers, with both matches scheduled for a 7 PM kick-off.
Uganda, currently positioned fourth in Group G, will host Botswana on June 7th, followed by a game against group leaders Algeria on June 10th.
