Ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup set to take place in the West Indies and the USA, Cricket Cranes batsman Roger Mukasa has expressed his excitement and sense of achievement.
“Not everyone gets the opportunity to play at the World Cup. For me, this is a dream come true,” said Mukasa, reflecting on the significance of the moment.
Mukasa, Uganda’s leading run-scorer across all cricket formats, highlighted his enthusiasm for facing some of the sport’s top players.
“I’m going to play against players who inspired me, players I have always wanted to meet. I am beyond excited to play at the World Cup,” he noted.
The 35-year-old cricketer, who also represented Uganda in the 2006 U19 Cricket World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka, emphasized the team’s determination to make an impact on the global stage.
“We are going to give it our very best at the World Cup. We want to show the world what Uganda can do – what Africa can do,” Mukasa stated confidently.
The Cricket Cranes have already departed for the West Indies, where they will engage in two crucial warm-up matches. They are set to face Namibia on May 28th and Scotland on May 30th, which will serve as vital preparation for their tournament opener against Afghanistan on June 4th.
