Brenda Kayaga’s stellar performance propelled the JT Lady Jaguars to a hard-fought 70-62 victory against the KCCA Leopards in an intense National Basketball League encounter at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.
Kayaga led all scorers with an impressive 31 points, contributing significantly to her team’s success. She also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists, earning a game index of 30.
Her efforts were complemented by Sarah Ageno, who provided a strong inside presence for the Jaguars, recording a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Jaguars established an early lead, ending the first period ahead by 7 points (22-15). Despite a resilient effort from the Leopards in the second period, narrowing the gap to 2 points (35-28), the Jaguars maintained their composure. The third period saw both teams evenly matched, but the Jaguars managed to extend their lead slightly to 55-44. In the final period, the Leopards fought back, but the Jaguars held firm, sealing the game with a final score of 70-62.
For the KCCA Leopards, Susan Rebecca Aanyu stood out with 18 points, while Margaret Bagaala added 9 points and led her team in rebounds with 11.
The Jaguars capitalized on their free-throw opportunities, making 22 of 34 attempts (64%), whereas the Leopards converted 11 of 20 (55%). Both teams were evenly matched on the boards, each securing 50 rebounds, while turnovers were nearly identical, with the Jaguars committing 22 and the Leopards 21.
The JT Lady Jaguars have won four of their last five games and move to third on the standings with 28 points, tied with KCCA Leopards who are second thanks to superior scoring statistics.
